NEW YORK — Speculation surrounding the reported wedding plans of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce intensified this week after New York City officials confirmed that an event permit application had been filed to close streets around Madison Square Garden for several days in early July. However, neither Swift nor Kelce has confirmed any wedding date or venue, and officials have not identified the event listed in the permit.
A spokesperson for New York City's mayor confirmed that an application was submitted through the city's Street Activity Permit Office seeking temporary street closures near Madison Square Garden from July 2 through July 4. According to CBS News and ABC News, the application was filed by Winick Productions, an event company known for organizing large private events, and includes plans for an exterior canopy and traffic restrictions.
The existence of the permit has fueled widespread media coverage after reports, first highlighted by The New York Times and subsequently confirmed by multiple news organizations, cited people familiar with the preparations who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly. Those reports said the permit was one of several indications that a major private event could take place at the arena during the Independence Day holiday weekend.
Despite the heightened attention, key details remain unconfirmed. Representatives for Swift have declined to comment, while Madison Square Garden Entertainment did not respond to requests for comment cited in several reports. Kelce has also avoided confirming the venue. During a recent appearance at Tight End University in Nashville, he laughed off questions about whether the ceremony would take place at Madison Square Garden without providing further details.
Guests reportedly invited to the wedding have likewise indicated they do not know where the event will be held. San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle said he and his wife had not been told the location. "We don't know where it is," Kittle said during an interview, adding that attendees expected further instructions closer to the event.
The latest reports follow earlier wedding rumors that linked the couple to a Rhode Island venue. Those claims were publicly disputed by a wedding planner associated with that location, and no ceremony took place there.
As of Friday, city officials had confirmed only the existence of the permit application. No public filing identifies Taylor Swift or Travis Kelce as the organizers, and neither has announced wedding plans. The purpose of the permitted event has not been officially disclosed, and details remain unclear.
