WASHINGTON — Apple plans to invest an additional $100 billion in the United States, expanding its previously announced domestic spending commitments and deepening its push to increase U.S.-based manufacturing and supply chain operations, the company and the White House said.

The new commitment raises Apple's planned U.S. investment to $700 billion over several years, according to the White House, and builds on the company's American Manufacturing Program, which aims to expand production of key components and strengthen domestic technology manufacturing.

Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook announced the investment alongside President Donald Trump, saying the company would broaden manufacturing partnerships and support additional advanced production in the United States. The company said the latest commitment would help expand domestic production capacity for components used across its product lineup while supporting research, engineering and manufacturing jobs.

The announcement follows a series of investments unveiled in recent weeks, including a multiyear agreement valued at more than $30 billion with Broadcom to produce billions of wireless connectivity chips in the United States. Under that agreement, Broadcom will expand its manufacturing facility in Fort Collins, Colorado, as Apple seeks to source more critical components domestically.

Apple has also continued to rely on expanding U.S. semiconductor production by suppliers. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. last week said it would add another $100 billion to its U.S. investment plans, citing strong demand for advanced chips used by major customers including Apple.

The White House said Apple's latest commitment aligns with the administration's broader effort to encourage companies to expand manufacturing and technology investment in the United States. Administration officials have highlighted private-sector investment announcements across semiconductor production, artificial intelligence infrastructure and advanced manufacturing as part of that strategy.

Apple has said its American Manufacturing Program is intended to bring more of its supply chain to the United States while supporting suppliers that manufacture components for products sold worldwide. The company has previously said it works with thousands of suppliers across all 50 states and plans to continue expanding investment in research, silicon engineering and advanced manufacturing.

Neither Apple nor the White House announced a detailed timetable for deploying the additional $100 billion beyond outlining that the investment would support expanded manufacturing, supply chain development and technology production in the United States.
