The event is one of NASCAR's signature road-course races and forms part of a weekend that also included support-series competition at Sonoma. NASCAR has scheduled the Toyota/Save Mart 350 for 110 laps on the 1.99-mile (3.2-kilometer) road course, with stage breaks after laps 25 and 55 before the final stage to the finish. Officials said the race also serves as part of the sanctioning body's in-season competition introduced for the 2026 campaign.
Saturday's program featured Cup Series practice and qualifying before teams finalized preparations for Sunday's race. NASCAR's official weekend schedule listed the Toyota/Save Mart 350 as the featured Cup Series event, with race coverage scheduled to begin Sunday afternoon.
According to NASCAR's official timing information, Shane van Gisbergen paced final practice before qualifying. Live timing and qualifying results were being updated through NASCAR's official race center as the weekend progressed.
Sonoma Raceway General Manager and Executive Vice President Brian Flynn said in a 2025 announcement promoting the 2026 event, "There's nothing like NASCAR in wine country, and we're fired up to welcome fans back to Sonoma in 2026." The statement accompanied the release of the 2026 race weekend schedule and highlighted the venue's annual Cup Series stop.
The Toyota/Save Mart 350 is the only NASCAR Cup Series race held annually at Sonoma Raceway and remains Northern California's lone Cup Series event, according to Sonoma Raceway. The weekend also featured the Pit Boss/FoodMaxx 250 for NASCAR's regional touring series on Saturday.
As of Sunday before the green flag, NASCAR had published the official event schedule and live race center, with the Toyota/Save Mart 350 set to begin later in the day. Race results were not yet available, and NASCAR said live updates would commence closer to the start of the event.
