A law enforcement official briefed on the plans said a private rehearsal dinner for about 100 guests is scheduled for Thursday evening, followed by a larger celebration on Friday at the Manhattan arena. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the security arrangements publicly.
Two law enforcement sources told CBS News that Friday's celebration is expected to host about 1,000 guests, beginning with a cocktail reception before a ceremony and late-night festivities inside Madison Square Garden. ABC News and other U.S. media outlets, citing sources familiar with the plans, reported a similar schedule.
Neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly announced wedding plans. Representatives for Swift have not responded to multiple media requests for comment, while Kelce's representatives have also not publicly commented on the reported arrangements.
Preparations outside Madison Square Garden intensified this week as trucks delivered equipment and event materials to the venue. Temporary traffic restrictions and heightened security measures have also been put in place around the arena, according to city officials and law enforcement authorities.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Wednesday that permits had been filed for a large event at Madison Square Garden but declined to discuss details, saying only that city agencies were prepared. New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch likewise confirmed that officers would be assigned to the event while withholding operational specifics.
The reported celebrations coincide with a busy Independence Day holiday period in New York, when the city is also managing other major public events, prompting additional coordination among the New York Police Department, Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department and other agencies.
