AUSTIN, Texas — No. 6 Texas defeated No. 11 Oregon 11-3 in the opener of the NCAA Austin Super Regional on Saturday, taking a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series for a spot in the College World Series.

Adrian Rodriguez drove in five runs with two hits to lead the Longhorns at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. Texas built an early advantage and held off the Ducks, who left a season-high 17 runners on base.

Texas starter Dylan Volantis pitched effectively into the middle innings, helping the Longhorns improve to 44-13. Oregon fell to 43-17 after stranding numerous baserunners and going 0-for-14 with runners in scoring position.

The game marked the start of the super regional round for both teams. Texas advanced by winning the Austin Regional, while Oregon earned its berth by claiming the Eugene Regional, including a victory over rival Oregon State.

Texas jumped ahead early and added insurance runs throughout. Rodriguez’s contributions included key hits that produced multiple runs. Oregon managed three runs but struggled with timely hitting despite reaching base frequently.

Head coach David Pierce of Texas said after the game, “Our guys did a great job of executing and capitalizing on opportunities. We’ll be ready for tomorrow.”
