KEMBLE, England — Senior members of the British royal family gathered at a village church in south-west England on Saturday for the wedding of Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, to Harriet Sperling, royal officials and local reports confirmed.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla joined Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence at the private ceremony at All Saints Church in Kemble, near Cirencester in Gloucestershire. Prince William and his wife Kate, the Princess of Wales, were also among those in attendance, according to multiple reports.
Phillips, 48, the eldest grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II and a businessman, married Sperling, 45, a pediatric NHS nurse and freelance writer. The couple, both previously divorced, began dating more than a year before announcing their engagement in August 2025.
Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall, and her husband Mike Tindall also attended the ceremony, along with other family members including Phillips’ daughters from his first marriage, Savannah and Isla, who served as bridesmaids, reports said. Sperling’s daughter Georgina was also part of the wedding party.
The event took place at the church in the village where Sperling previously lived. Guests arrived amid rainy weather, with some carrying umbrellas, according to footage and photographs from the scene.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson described the occasion as a private family celebration but declined to provide further details on the guest list or ceremony. No official photographs were released immediately after the event.
Phillips is 19th in the line of succession to the British throne. He is the only son of Princess Anne and her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips. The family has maintained a relatively low public profile compared to other senior royals.
Sperling works as a pediatric nurse within the National Health Service. Details about the couple’s plans following the wedding, including any honeymoon or future residence, were not disclosed.
