FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons have signed All-Pro running back Bijan Robinson to a three-year contract extension worth up to $75 million, making the 24-year-old the highest-paid running back in NFL history, according to multiple reports confirmed Tuesday.
The agreement includes a record $51 million in guaranteed money for a running back, with $37 million paid at signing, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and other national NFL reporters. The extension comes after Robinson briefly stayed out of practice during training camp while negotiations continued, ending uncertainty over the future of one of the league's top offensive players.
Robinson, the eighth overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Texas, had been entering the fourth season of his rookie contract after the Falcons exercised his fifth-year option earlier this year. The new deal secures his long-term future in Atlanta while rewarding a player who has quickly become the focal point of the team's offense.
The running back is coming off a standout 2025 campaign in which he led the NFL with 2,298 yards from scrimmage. Robinson rushed for 1,478 yards and added 820 receiving yards, earning first-team All-Pro honors and his second consecutive Pro Bowl selection. His scrimmage-yard total also established a franchise record for the Falcons.
Over his first three NFL seasons, Robinson has totaled 3,910 rushing yards with 25 rushing touchdowns while adding 198 receptions for 1,738 receiving yards and nine receiving scores. His dual-threat production has made him one of the league's most versatile offensive players and a central piece of Atlanta's long-term plans.
The extension continues an offseason in which the Falcons have moved to retain several core players on long-term contracts. Earlier this summer, the club reached a new agreement with wide receiver Drake London, while Robinson had previously indicated he was leaving contract discussions to his representatives and team executives.
The deal also resets the market for NFL running backs, surpassing previous annual salary benchmarks at a position where teams have often been reluctant to commit long-term financial guarantees because of the physical demands of the role. Robinson's contract reflects both his production and Atlanta's confidence that he will remain a cornerstone of its offense for years to come.
