INDIANAPOLIS — The 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 is scheduled to start at 12:45 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 24, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, officials said.
The race, presented by Gainbridge, will be held on Memorial Day weekend as the centerpiece of the Month of May activities at the historic 2.5-mile oval track in Speedway, Indiana.
Gates are set to open at 6 a.m. ET, with pre-race ceremonies including the singing of “Back Home Again in Indiana” around 12:35 p.m. ET, followed by the command to start engines and the green flag.
Álex Palou secured the pole position with a qualifying speed of 232.248 mph, according to Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials. The defending winner from 2025 will lead the field of 33 cars in the 200-lap, 500-mile race.
The event will be broadcast live on FOX, with pre-race coverage beginning at 10 a.m. ET.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles said in a statement that the race remains a signature American sporting tradition. “It’s time to come Back Home Again,” officials noted on the event schedule.
This year’s race features several notable participants, including multiple past champions. Jimmie Johnson is scheduled to drive the two-seat pace car to lead the field. Actor Brendan Fraser will serve as honorary starter, and Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti will drive the pace car, according to race organizers.
Race weekend included practice sessions beginning May 12, time trials, and Carb Day activities. The 500 Festival Parade took place on Saturday.
Weather forecasts for race day indicated a chance of showers, though officials have not announced any schedule changes as of Saturday evening.
The Indianapolis 500 is the premier event in the NTT IndyCar Series. Tickets and further details are available through the Indianapolis Motor Speedway website.
As of publication, final preparations were underway at the track for what is billed as the largest single-day sporting event in the world.
