HOLLYWOOD — Rapper Offset was shot Monday evening outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, and is in stable condition, his representative and police said.
The 34-year-old, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus and a former member of the hip-hop trio Migos, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the incident that occurred in the valet area shortly after 7 p.m., the Seminole Police Department said.
A spokesperson for the rapper confirmed he was transported to a local hospital. “We can confirm Offset was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “He is stable and being closely monitored.”
The Seminole Police Department said officers responded immediately to the valet-area incident. “Seminole Police were on site immediately, and the situation was contained quickly,” the department said in a statement. “Two individuals have been detained by police.” Authorities added that the site is secure and there is no threat to the public.
Offset rose to prominence as part of Migos alongside Quavo and the late Takeoff. The group disbanded after Takeoff was fatally shot in Houston in 2022. Offset was previously married to rapper Cardi B, with whom he shares three children.
The circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation, police said. No information was released on the identities of the detained individuals or any potential motive. Details of the full sequence of events were not disclosed.
Offset had been at the casino earlier Monday evening, according to initial reports. He was not identified by name in the police statement, which described the victim only as an individual with non-life-threatening injuries who was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood.
The incident is the latest high-profile shooting involving a prominent hip-hop artist. Migos’ Takeoff was killed in a separate incident outside a bowling alley in 2022, though no connection exists between the cases.
As of Tuesday, Offset remained hospitalized under medical observation. No charges had been announced in connection with the shooting, and the investigation by the Seminole Police Department was continuing. Further updates on the detained individuals or any potential court proceedings were not immediately available.
