LOS ANGELES — Advance tickets for Sony Pictures’ upcoming superhero film “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” went on sale in multiple markets worldwide on Wednesday, marking the latest stage in the studio’s promotional campaign ahead of the movie’s theatrical release next month.
Cinema chains and ticketing platforms in the United States, Europe and parts of Asia began offering seats for opening-week screenings on June 17, according to theater operators and promotional announcements released in recent days. The film, starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker, is scheduled for wide release on July 31 in the United States, while some international markets are set to receive the film earlier. Sony Pictures Entertainment India has said the movie will open there on July 30. Advance bookings in that market also opened on Wednesday.
The ticket launch follows weeks of marketing activity surrounding the fourth Holland-led Spider-Man film. Sony Pictures previously announced that tickets would become available on June 17, while theater chains including Odeon in the United Kingdom published sale times for customers seeking opening-week screenings. Industry reports had also indicated that the ticket release would coincide with additional promotional events tied to the film.
“ONE WEEK until tickets are on sale for #SpiderManBrandNewDay,” the official Spider-Man movie account said in a social media post on June 10, announcing the start of advance sales.
According to Sony, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” continues the story of Peter Parker after the events of 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” in which the character’s identity was erased from public memory. The new installment is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and features returning cast members including Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon.
Amazon has separately announced exclusive early screenings for U.S. Prime members on July 29, two days before the film’s nationwide release. The company said customers could purchase tickets through participating theaters and ticketing partners once sales opened.
The film is one of the most closely watched theatrical releases of the summer movie season, although box-office expectations remain speculative and have not been confirmed by Sony or theater operators.
As of Wednesday, tickets were available through major cinema chains and online ticketing services in several countries. Sony Pictures has maintained its planned release schedule, with “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” set to debut in theaters globally at the end of July.
