LOS ANGELES — Actor Steve Zahn has joined the cast of Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming romantic comedy “Hello & Paris,” alongside Kate Hudson and Javier Bardem, the studio said.
The film, currently in production, is written and directed by Elizabeth Chomko. It is loosely inspired by Deborah McKinlay’s 2014 novel “That Part Was True,” The Hollywood Reporter reported on May 12.
Zahn’s specific role was not disclosed. Hudson and Bardem were previously announced as the lead stars. The story centers on a landscape architect and a best-selling but embattled novelist who have a prickly first meeting in Paris. The pair gradually connect as they exchange books and recipes while living on opposite sides of the Atlantic.
The project is described as evoking the spirit of classic romantic comedies such as “Sleepless in Seattle,” “When Harry Met Sally” and “You’ve Got Mail.”
Chomko previously directed the 2018 drama “What They Had,” starring Hilary Swank and Robert Forster. She also wrote the screenplay for that film.
Zahn, known for roles in films including “Saving Private Ryan,” “Happy, Texas” and the HBO series “The White Lotus,” brings extensive experience in both dramatic and comedic roles. Hudson has starred in numerous romantic comedies, including “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” and “Fool’s Gold.” Bardem, an Academy Award winner, has appeared in a wide range of international productions.
“Hello & Paris” is produced under Amazon MGM Studios. No release date has been announced.
Filming is underway, according to reports. Further casting details and production timeline information were not immediately available.
