Mar 26, 2026 - Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, of Orlando, Florida, pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court to attempted murder and more than a dozen other felony counts in connection with gunfire at singer Rihanna's Beverly Hills-area home.
Ortiz faced one count of attempted murder, 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or vehicle. Authorities allege she drove up to the property on March 8 and fired at least 20 rounds from an AR-15-style rifle toward the residence. No one was injured in the incident.
Prosecutors said Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, their three children and Rihanna's mother were all at home at the time of the shooting around 1:15 p.m. local time. Some family members were inside the main house, while Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were in a trailer on the property. Bullets struck parts of the gate and the residence, according to police and court records.
Ortiz appeared briefly in court wearing yellow prison attire. Her attorney entered the not guilty plea on all counts. She remains in custody on $1.8 million bail. The case stems from her arrest later on March 8 after authorities linked her to the shooting.
Los Angeles police responded quickly to reports of gunfire at the Beverly Crest neighborhood property. Investigators recovered evidence from the scene, including shell casings consistent with a semiautomatic rifle. Ortiz had no prior criminal record, according to authorities.
The incident has drawn attention to security concerns for high-profile celebrities in the Los Angeles area. Rihanna, a Grammy-winning artist known for hits including "Umbrella" and "Diamonds," has maintained a relatively private life in recent years while raising her family.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office has not commented further on potential motives. Court records indicate the next hearing in the case has not yet been scheduled.
As of Thursday, Ortiz remained in custody pending further proceedings. The case continues in Los Angeles Superior Court, with no trial date set.
