Zverev, a three-time Grand Slam finalist, advanced to his fifth Roland Garros semifinal by defeating Spain's Rafael Jodar in straight sets in the quarterfinals. Mensik, the 26th seed, reached his first major semifinal with a straight-sets victory over Brazil's Joao Fonseca.

Zverev, ranked No. 3, leads the head-to-head series 1-0 after defeating Mensik in the fourth round of the Madrid Open in April.

The 29-year-old German has reached at least the semifinals in five of the last six years at Roland Garros but is still seeking his first major title. He was runner-up to Carlos Alcaraz here in 2024.

Mensik, a 20-year-old from Prostejov, Czech Republic, stands 6-foot-5 and turned professional in 2022. He has a career-high ranking of No. 12, achieved earlier in 2026, and captured his first ATP Masters 1000 title in Miami, where he defeated Novak Djokovic.

Tournament officials said Zverev became the highest-ranked man remaining in the draw following early exits by top players including Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic.

In a promotional video ahead of the semifinal, both players commented on the matchup, with Mensik reflecting on his progress.

Zverev has dropped only one set en route to the semifinals in a relatively open section of the draw. Mensik, playing in his first French Open quarterfinal and semifinal, defeated Fonseca 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(3) in the night session earlier this week.

The winner will face the victor of the other semifinal between Italy's Flavio Cobolli and Matteo Arnaldi for a place in Sunday's final.

Zverev has described his focus on navigating the later stages on clay, where he has extensive experience. Mensik has been noted for his powerful attacking game and rapid rise among the sport's next generation.

Details on live scoring and broadcast were available via official Roland Garros channels and partners including TNT and HBO Max in certain markets.
