KYIV — Russian missile, drone and glide-bomb attacks killed at least 10 people across Ukraine overnight, Ukrainian officials said on Tuesday, with the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia bearing the brunt of the barrage.

Zaporizhzhia officials initially reported six people killed and 19 wounded in the overnight strikes. Later reports put the toll at seven dead and 24 wounded. All those killed were employees of the Zaporizhstal steel plant, according to the company.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia had used ballistic missiles, including missiles that Ukraine identified as being supplied by North Korea, as well as Zircon missiles and guided aerial bombs. The claim about North Korean missiles could not be independently verified.

Zelenskyy said Russia was receiving additional ballistic missiles and military personnel from North Korea, and accused Moscow of preparing for further escalation. He has repeatedly called on Western countries to provide additional air-defence systems as Ukraine faces sustained Russian missile and drone attacks.

In Kyiv, an infectious diseases hospital was damaged, while a separate children's hospital was struck, according to Ukrainian officials. The Health Ministry said children and medical staff at the children's hospital were sheltering during the attack and were not harmed.

The attacks also hit other regions. Ukrainian authorities said six people were killed in the Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions. Strikes on the frontline cities of Kherson and Kharkiv caused power outages, while a Russian drone attack in Mykolaiv injured a 75-year-old woman, officials said.

Russia's Defence Ministry said its forces had carried out a group strike using high-precision ground-based weapons against military-industrial enterprises and transport and logistics centres in Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia. It did not acknowledge the civilian casualties reported by Ukrainian authorities.

The overnight strikes came amid continuing Russian attacks along the front and repeated long-range bombardments of Ukrainian cities. Kyiv and Moscow have both intensified attacks using drones and missiles as the war enters another phase of sustained fighting.

Later on Tuesday, Ukrainian authorities reported additional Russian strikes, including guided aerial bombs in the Sumy region that killed one person and a strike in the Odesa region that killed two, bringing the reported number of deaths from attacks during the day higher than the overnight toll.
