BOSTON — Fitness wearable company Whoop announced on-demand access to licensed clinicians via video consultations for its U.S. subscribers, expanding its health monitoring platform with features that integrate biometric data.

The new service, set to launch this summer, allows users to connect directly with clinicians through the Whoop app, where health professionals can review the wearer's continuous biometric data collected by the device.

Whoop, based in Boston, described the addition as bridging the gap between personal fitness tracking and clinical health insights. The feature is part of broader updates that also include new artificial intelligence tools and electronic health record integration through a partnership with HealthEx.

"WHOOP is entering the clinical health space with the introduction of live, on-demand video consultations with a licensed clinician," the company said in a statement announcing the expansion.

The consultations are available to Whoop members in the United States. Details on pricing for the clinician visits remain unclear, though many of the other announced AI-powered features are included in the existing membership.

Whoop trackers, known for their screen-free design and focus on recovery metrics, have more than 2.5 million users. The company has positioned the new capabilities as enabling more personalized health guidance by combining long-term wearable data with professional medical input.

The announcement follows Whoop's recent funding round, in which it raised $575 million at a valuation of $10.1 billion. The updates come amid growing competition in the wearable health technology sector.

Clinicians participating in the service will have access to users' biometric trends, and through the HealthEx partnership, members can sync their broader medical history within the app.

Whoop officials emphasized that the service is not intended to replace emergency care or primary physicians. Additional AI features include tools such as "My Memory" and proactive check-ins to support user health management.

The company said it aims to make health insights more actionable by combining data from its wearable with expert review. Rollout is scheduled to begin in the coming months for eligible U.S. subscribers, with further details on availability expected closer to launch.
